The Illinois House Judiciary Committee just passed HB2332, the cannabis decriminalization bill, by a vote of 9-5, sending it to the full House for consideration. This bill will provide a state-wide guideline and approval for individual counties and municipalities to enact their own decriminalization measures for possession of up to 15 grams of cannabis. The amended version of this bill would allow counties to decriminalize up to 14 grams of cannabis. Counties would determine the fines and each county would have to pursue decriminalization.
